THE SECOND COLOR

The Second Color
After cleaning all of the ink from my screen and letting it dry, I painted more drawing fluid into the first stencil. This was wherever I wanted to print a darker shade of warm gray. Then I spread the screen filler over all, washed out the drawing fluid and let the screen dry again.

This time I mixed a slightly darker gray. I started with the first color and added to it. This will actually be a reduction print because I am using the same stencil and blocking out more of it.Everywhere I wanted the lighter gray - I simply didn't paint with drawing fluid. You can see the forms taking shape - I love the light against dark and the dark against light

Again, I print the edition. The prints tend to curl a bit because of the water-based ink. This makes it harder to place the prints against the register guides. I take the whole stack and bend them carefully in the opposite direction of the curl.
